While doing some research last night, I ran across this snippet -
stating that the 2nd NH utilized "Poison and Explosive Bullets"[1]:
In June 1863, the second New Hampshire made requisition for 35,000
of these shells [2] and received 24,000. The second New Hampshire
regiment was at the battle of Gettysburg and 49 of its number lie
buried there.
Has anybody ever seen corroborating evidence for this?
Regards,
Alan

[2] The bullets are described as:
"The bullet was in two parts, one hollowed out and the other also
hollow, being encased in the larger and containing the poison, the
latter being loose would slip out and remain in the body or pass through
leaving its poison."
