By the way, George, I hope Ed's visit didn't cause you to miss the historic
event which transpired in South Bend this afternoon while you were on the
tour. Curiously, I haven't heard anything from Brother Bob Lawrence on the
subject yet.

Subject: GDG- Retreat From Gettysburg
Esteemed GDG Member Contributes:
I had the privilege of meeting Ed Bearss and his
"Retreat from Gettysburg" tour at our Daniel
Donnelly House today.
This was a first, for Ed, for us and undoubtedly
for the those on the tour. It was a beautiful and
clear day and I think all enjoyed it. Both Ed
and I were emphatic with those on the tour about
it being PRIVATE PROPERTY and NOT open to the
pubic.
I hope at some point in the future we can host
the members of the Gettysburg Discussion Group
for a retreat from Gettysburg tour and show first
hand what happened where on Falling Waters Road
and on and near the Donnelly House - July 14,
1863.
As all in this forum know, Ed is a very special
gentleman. I made this offer to him nearly two
years ago. I hope to have the opportunity do help
him out again in the future.
Cheers,
George F. Franks, III
