Hey Jack,

Good post.  I was not comparing the Augusta powder mill with Dupont that had
been in the business a long time and had developed considerable expertise
and a huge operation along the banks of the Brandywine.  Just pointing out
that Rains did a good job with a start-up operation considering a number of
handicaps.

By the way, the torpedo guy was Gabriel Rains not GW who was the powder guy.
They were brothers who lent their talents to helping the Confederacy learn a
lot about explosives.
