GDG- Memorial Day 2007

Every year at our small local parade, the military honor guard steps off 
the parade route to lay a wreath at a Civil War memorial monument, prior 
to heading to the town cemetery (for the main ceremony). Each of the 
local residents who gave their all during the Civil War have their names 
on the statue (erected in 1892). It's a fine looking monument and a very 
tastefully done ceremony to honor those long forgotten citizen soldiers.

And as someone else noted, the playing of taps at the main ceremony with 
the flag & honor guard standing at attention and with the weekly 
reminder of continued sacrifices being made by our countries best is a 
very emotional event...
