Thanks, Steve. I have to admit, I was shocked that our book wasn't even
mentioned. I never expected to win the award - I and Eric would have been
humbled by such an honor - but to not even get mentioned puzzles me. Our
book has been by far was one of highest selling CW books in recent memory,
has gotten terrific reviews by many tough reviewers, and was 15 years in the
making. I know it sounds self-serving, but I really expected at least a
mention.
Ah well.
J.D.
J.D.,
You know what scares me?? Neither you, Eric, or I had any clue about the
book that won. :) That's not natural at all, as we all seem to have our eyes
and ears out there for new books on Gettysburg. Not ready for the retirement
home here, and don't think you both are either. ;)
That said, to be snubbed by that committee bothers me, and have lost all my
respect for those who are on the committee by this action. I should not be
surprised, but in this case I most certainly am.
Hope all is well.
Regards from the Garden State,
Steve
