Hello,

This one caught my eye. Having lived in Georgia, led many tours of the
Atlanta Campaign and having studied the campaign for over 20 years, this is the
first time that I have ever heard of telegraph lines between units in the
field along the Kennesaw Line. To the rear yes, along the line, no.

Sherman's army group was there for 28 days pushing through both main lines
slowly (it rained most of the time). There was time to do this, but I would
love to see the cited source for this if possible. I pulled out several of my
campaign books and could not find anything on it.

I do know that when Hood took the AOT north to attack Sherman's supply lines
before moving into Alabama for the ill-fated Tennessee Campaign, Sherman was
in communication with the Union garrison at Allatoona Pass during the battle
there- but only by signal flags which he observed from on top of Big
Kennesaw Mountain through a telescope. The telegraph lines along the railroad had
been cut.
