Just finished reading Richard Rollins "The Damned Red Flags of the
Rebellion" The Confederate Battle Flag at Gettysburg, in which he states his
frustration at reading the 1st hand reports of the capturing of the regimental battle
flags and the contradictory information presented. Rollins states that it
seemed the higher the rank of the writer, the less accurate the report. My
question, is this generally true throughout the war, or an impression particular
to the battle flag reports? Ian Duncanson
