Hello,
One of the muster tour being led by Dr. Bearss is Early's attack on East Cemetery Hill. To get a discussion gone on the area this tour will cover here are a few questions to discuss.
Before Early's attack, the 41 NY and 33 MA had been sent to the east beyond Brickyard Lane. Pfanz states in "Gettysburg - Culp's Hill and Cemetery Hill" they may have been out near present day East Confederate Avenue. This appears to be too far out. Where do you think they were?
Col. Isaac Avery took command of Hoke's North Carolina brigade after Hoke was wounded at Chancellorsville. During the attack on East Cemetery Hill, Avery was wounded. Where was he wounded?
The 107 OH and part of the 75 OH were behind a stone fence facing north toward the town. Hay's "Tiger Brigade" hit them hard and forced them back toward Wiedrich's battery. Where was this fence located at with respect to present day structures?
Regards
Dean Shultz
