A visit to the Friends Of the National Parks at Gettysburg Rupp House 
History Center in town is an excellent place to get some background info on 
the battle.
If your family rides bikes, the park is an excellent place to ride around 
and see the sites from a different perspective.
Also, the view from the top of the PA monument is a favorite for all ages.
I agree that a walk over PPT Charge route is awe inspiring.
If you are near Harrisburg, the National Civil War Museum is interesting 
too.
