GDG- Briefly Delurking - What I'll be doing on my summer vacation...

Looking for "must do" items at the 'burg this summer, and also for
preparation...

I plan to be taking the (hopefully) soon-to-be Mrs. Guthrie to DuBois to
meet the family in July, along with her two kids (m-13, f-11) and then
for additional Pennsylvania vacation. Being a boomer, vacation must
involve a trip somewhere fun, and Hershey meets that requirement, and
somewhere educational and fun, and Gettysburg is the target. Academic
schedules for the summer session being what they are, the plan is to
make this a mid/late July trip. I know this will just kill the Lawrence
Brothers, but I plan a stop at Penn State to introduce the lad to a good
college other than Notre Dame... We're figuring 3 days in the 'burg.

I plan to engage one of the LBGs give us a tour of the field to get the
three who've not visited before oriented to the field. There will be
the ritual stop at LRT and the climb up BRT, and of course, a stop at
the National Cemetery... Now, it has been many years (roughly 40) since
I was a rookie visitor, so any other suggestions for things to do with
three rookies will be most appreciated. Also, to get everyone started
I planned on having a dinner and official viewing of "the movie", and
we'll read Shelby Foote on the trip from South Bend to DuBois... Other
getting ready suggestions are also solicited and will be gratefully
received.

Thanks!
