GDG- Concern over bronze statues...

I was listening to NPR this morning, and there is something called 
"Industrial Theft" which is growing, people stealing copper (typically 
cables, unfortunate side effect for the stupid thief: actual 
electrocutions of some trying to steal live wires) and bronze (typically 
large statues that are being melted down - one artist had 8 
larger-than-life statues taken recently, and a major statue in 
downtown(?) Toronto was just taken down, cut up and smelted).

Notwithstanding the concerns over the defacing of the statues last year, 
does anyone know if the park is concerned regarding the safety of the 
statues in general?
