GDG- Museum of the Confederacy

Since there is obviously a divide in our society about even seeing the Confederate flag and, apparently about the name "Confederacy" and since we now have Virginia's General Assembly apologizing for slavery, the name "Museum of the Confederacy" seems doomed. So does the museum in its present location--whether we like it or not. Perhaps moving it elsewhere in Richmond, having some shuttlebus to the White House, and calling it the Southern Civil War Museum would appease everyone, since appeasing seems to be the name of the financial game.

Personally when I said to myself, "I want to see Robert E. Lee's saddle, Harry Heth's watch and JEB Stuart and AP Hill's hats" I didn't have to look around the internet to see what museum collection had them. I just headed for the Museum of the Confederacy.

I personally found the museum as compelling, in a different way, as the White House and would visit it again no matter where it was because it had the "real stuff."
