Actually, a "human interest" book was one of my first hooks into Gettysburg  
- a very old volume (the one I grew up with was pre-1938, as there was no  
mention of the Peace Light as there is in modern versions) called _Human  
Interest Stories of the Three-Days Battle at Gettysburg With Pictures_.  I  found it 
in my grandparents' library, and by seven, I think I had it all but  memorized.
 
Coco's books I find less interesting, frankly - I think I've read them one  
and maybe a half times.
