GDG- 90th PA Volunteer Monunemt

Hello All:

What is the truth of the 90th PA Volunteer's monument?  Did that unit REALLY replace the bird's nest during the battle, or is it a nice story?  If it is only a nice story, why did they build that monument then?  

Is that why then they used the flank marker as a tree stump instead of the standard marker as well?  Is this the only unit to break from the traditional flank marker, or did others do that as well?
