GDG- a grave question to be considered

Jack and Bob,
To put a Gettysburg slant on this thread, the "diplomat" was none other than
Thomas Kane (BG commanding, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Div., XII Corps, at
Gettysburg). Kane was a personal friend of Brigham Young. In a remarkable
journey, Kane traveled to California via Panama (IIRC), then over the
Sierras -in winter- to Salt Lake City. He arranged the agreements which
prevented the Mormon War. Of course, on the march and at Gettysburg, he was
so ill that he had to travel by ambulance. At Gettysburg, he was
incapacitated, so had very little to do with his brigade during the three
days.
Regards,
Jack Kelly
