GDG- 2007 GDG Muster

I have a suggestion for next year's muster theme: The "I Survived the
Ed Bearss' Muster" Muster!

(With apologies to Phil, Garry, Dave, Dave, Dean, Tim Smith, and anyone
else I am missing).

I left Ed and Dean's first tour (which was tremendous) at the triangular
field right before everyone crossed into Devil's Den. I had my reasons
- I was hot, my water had just run out, and my wife and child wanted me
to do something with them just outside of town. Still, my wife promptly
labeled me a GDG "deserter"!

Heat, lack of water, and the pull of home might have made any
Confederate think twice on July 2. By tracing their path in similarly
hot temperatures, I gained a new insight into their accomplishments.

As has been expressed, it was great to meet so many people at the
Muster.

I don't know about anyone else, but by the end of Ed and Dean's second
tour

Saturday - which had to be one of the hottest, most humid and generally

uncomfortable days I can recall spending on the field in some time - I
was

about cooked. If there'd been a pool at the Travelodge, and I'd jumped
in,

steam would have probably come up. Ed Bearss could probably hike to
death

most men half his age. Or younger!
