Bob,
That would be nice and it is my understanding that discussions about his
papers and who will complete his books are ongoing and that my name has come up.
I could not be more flattered. There is a huge hole in the flags community
in terms of knowledge that will take a number of us to fill where one man
filled it on his own before. I just hope that everything that was in Howie's
amazing brain is written down somewhere!!!
Starting in August I should be working for the Tennessee State Museum
completing their Civil War flags book that was begun some years ago and came to a
halt when their curator died of cancer a few years ago. That will be for a
year and then we'll see what happens with regards to Howie's books after that
time.
One of the most amazing things about his flag books were the footnotes,
which in and of themselves were a book on their own.
Thanks very much for the kind words Bob.
