GDG- Maps of Gettysburg: Question over Caldwell's route

Alan,
You're right, that does look strange. The text for the map (p. 168)states that Caldwell is "marching rapidly from its former position on Cemetery Ridge." Perhaps the four bars of the division should have been placed slightly to the right, about where the road label is. Even at that, the brigades were probably not on a single line, with Zook being diverted from the rear of the division to the Stony Hill and Brooke as a reserve (as stated on p. 168). The succeeding maps in the series do present what appears to be a more accurate placement of the brigades in the bloody and confusing action in the Wheatfield.
