Hi,
the link below is from an Upper Peninsula web site that has a photo of the 
day.  Yesterday was a ship that went around the Great Lakes during the Civil 
War.  I guess they wanted to make sure that those Rebs didn't run into 
Escanaba for some pasties.  (Cornish meat pies--not the things strippers 
wear, LOL)
I did got to TN and I can see why there was guerilla activity around 
Crossville.  My aunt and uncle have a lovely home but it is out in the 
middle of nowhere and there are many small back roads honeycombed all over 
the place.  It was one of those "you can't get there from here" places, 
including where we stayed but it was all lovely so thanks to those who gave 
advice.  We did get to Stones River after landing in Nashville but didn't 
get anywhere else.  Sigh.
Shameless self-promotion here.  I am going to be speaking at the conference 
being held by the Society for Women in the Civil War in Exton, PA, July27-29 
and am wondering if there is anyone here from my area who might be driving 
that way.  (Michigan--I'm in the Thumb, so Metro Detroit or even Toledo, 
etc)  I am still hobbling a bit from my recent unpleasantness, neck surgery, 
but can travel, I just don't want to have to drive that far.  I may be 
flying but thought I would throw it out there anyway, since I had help 
hauling through the terminals when we flew south but will be flying alone 
this time.  Car accidents, sigh, the gift that keeps on giving.  I can help 
with gas and tolls.  Thanks in advance.
