GDG- Day 3, and the Charge that is forgotten

Happy 4th of July all.

Main reason why I am posting this now is as usual, the CW discussion groups
I belong to were full of posts about Pickett's Charge. While I don't have a
problem with that at all, it amazes me how Farnsworth's Charge continues to
be below the radar of events that happened this faithful day in 1863.

In many ways there are many similarities to Pickett's Charge. By that I
mean it too was a desperate attempt to do something that was impossible to do,
and sadly was proven that it could not be done successfully.

In years past, I could see how this charge was virtually ignored, as back
then you could not easily follow the charge because of the trees etc., but now
you can walk the ground a lot easier, and when you do you can see just what a
horrible thing it had to have been for those who found themselves involved
in that action.

The terrain on that part of the field is horrible, and doubly so for those
who found themselves on horseback that late July afternoon.

While it is right to remember those for their gallantry and bravery during
Pickett's Charge, those who participated in this charge should be remembered
as well. Just my humble opinion.

Regards from the Garden State,

Steve Basic
