GDG- Plain as Dirt: History Without Gimmickry

Good point, Margaret.
However I was thinking about the terrible non-historical Philadelphia VC and
area around it and comparing it to the old Gettysburg "architectural wonder"
that housed the Cyclorama.
Take care,
Bob

Esteemed GDG Member Contributes:
I just hope that the emphasis on the discussion of slavery and the
Presidency in the early years of the republic is not exclusively on
Washington and his slaves. John and Abigail Adams, both of whom opposed
slavery, also lived in that house. Adams had previously drafted the
Massachusetts Constitution of 1780 (which Massachusetts' state government
proudly proclaims to be the world's oldest functioning written constitution)
which formed the rationale for the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts
to declare in the three cases later known collectively as the Quock Walker
case (1781-1783) abolished slavery in Massachusetts on the grounds that it
was unconstitutional under that state's 1780 constitution. A full picture
requires discussion of both presidents.
Regards,
Margaret
