I am not familiar with this book but I will
definitely look at it with interest.

I do - as a student of the post-July 3, 1863
period of the Campaign find it odd that the
author chose to use in the title and cut off his
work at July THIRTEEN rather than the more
commonly accepted July 14 as the end of the
Gettysburg Campaign.

Even the promo on the publishers web site note:

"...to the last Confederate withdrawal of troops
across the Potomac River on July 13, 1863..."

This is just plain wrong.  The last Conferates
did not cross the Potomac River until AFTER the
battle of Falling Waters, Maryland on July 14,
1863 (soldiers from Lee's rear guard under Heth's
command).

Perhaps I am judging prematurely - but this seems
to be a pretty basic error in the work.

I am in San Diego this week rather than in
Maryland or even Pennsylvania - but this day
never passes without much thought on my part
about the brave men on both sides who fought,
bled, died or were wounded or captured on this
most important date in our history.  Regardless
of ones sypathies of geneology - what they did
will live on in history - and our collective
memories.
