Scott wouldn't be the first Union veteran of Gettysburg to later explain how 
he and his unit won the battle all by themselves by, uh, amplifying a couple 
little details.  (Confederate veterans had to confine themselves to later 
explaining how they ALMOST won the battle by themselves, if only those cowardly 
support units hadn't turned tail ...)
