The Georgians were under fire from Brown's battery! From "The History of
Battery B",
"Lieutenant Brown ordered the battery to change front left oblique and to
begin firing four-second spherical case shell."
The battery continued firing at the advancing Confederates with 3-second,
2-second, 1-second fuses, then switched to canister and double canister.
Only the two left sections could fire on the Georgians, since the right
section was screened by the other guns. Finally, Brown ordered the
withdrawal of the battery through the opening in the stone wall to left of
the 69th PA. #4 was left out in front of the lines, while #6 was abandoned
closer to the wall. The two guns were recaptured after the Confederate
repulse.
