Very true. My simple point in offering the contrast between the Confederate
accounts with the Federal accounts from units south of the Copse is that
they don't fit at all. The popular view must suppose that one or the
other are false, since they in no way jive.
As far as the consistency you point to in Confederate accounts, Posey's

Posey was well back with the 12th Mississippi while three other regiments
under his command had advanced. I don't think he had much of an idea of what
was happening to most of his brigade. However, we do have statements from
some of his Mississippians that they were charging with Wright's Georgians.
If Wright was attacking south of the Copse, so was the 48th Mississippi! The
19th Mississippi was on the left of the 48th Mississippi, trying to keep up.
However, that 19th had to deal with Woodruff and Smyth and were frustrated
in their charge.
