GDG- Happy New Year

Yes, Happy 2007 to all!  I actually raised a glass of Champagne (Meade's favorite drink) at his grave yesterday, as the Meade Society does every year.  It was also his wedding anniversary!

There was a very large crowd there - I'm not good at guessing these things - but well over 100 - probably a lot more.   A couple of his descendents were there and the head of Fort Meade in Maryland - they all spoke.  Meade is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia along with about 40 other CW Generals and one Confederate General.
