<< Both, actually. I recall being told that a new "arena" is designed in
the
new VC for viewing the map. It's become such a traditional part of
Gettysburgiana that viewing of it will remain.

Interesting. I'm actually a little surprised to hear it. My understanding
was that the relief map from the Cyclorama building was being preserved,
which is relatively straightforward since it has no associated electrical
system, or, the extensive seating arrangements needed for the Electric Map.
Accomodating the Electric Map such that it can be viewed along with the
narration and lighting program will require a sizeable facility of its own
within the new VC. Until know, my impression has been that bringing the
electric map over to the new facility wasn't in the cards. Was there a
change of plans somewhere along the line?
<< my personal hope is that they turn the cavalry lights back on,
which have been off for a couple decades now >>
Why would they do that. After all, everybody knows the battle was over
after Pickett's Charge. <g>
Actually, what they really need to do is change the lights to show the 12th
Corps "advance guard" on the 1st, Wright north of the Copse on the 2nd, and
Pickett's Charge as an oblique attack on the 3rd. ;-)
