Actually, I have mentioned it quite a bit, and often as an example of how  
vivid one's memory can indeed be years later when faced with something like  
watching a friend get killed.  It was a pivotal moment in my life just as  the 
attack of the 3rd Georgia on July 2nd, 1863, was one for Key.
 
You do have a point, however, which is why we take time-frame accounts over  
the much later accounts.  But to dismiss the much later accounts out of  hand 
is historical folly as I have found that they often do go along the same  
lines as those written closer to the event depicted.
 
As you know I am sure, even OR accounts written not long after things  
happened have rubbish in them.
