GDG- Chamberlain's charge: what really happened?!?

Thanks for the good answer to my vague question. It is rather unsurprising that in a hotly contested small unit infantry action that the exact details become lost as the men recounting their experiences only recall what they personally did and saw. There was no SLA Marshall and an army historical unit to interview the combatants while the action was fresh in their minds. We have to depend on the testimony of aging men determined to elevate their role and perhaps to enhance the stature of the action in which they took part.

charged - what has been questioned is who started it, and how it 
progressed. According to Desjardins, the two wings went in different
