GDG- Tour guide group to fight new rules at Gettysburg Battlefield

The guides have been taking a bit of beating here lately, unfairly, I  
believe. They are a proud group with a great and colorful history. I  
think it is important to remember why the guides have been given a  
"monopoly," as it unfortunately has been described: to prevent  
visitors from being victimized by un-informed and possibly  
unscrupulous 'guides.'

The licensing and "monopoly" does not exist to benefit the guides, it  
exists to assure the visitor of a quality experience when choosing to  
hire a guide. The guides who may disagree with how their services are  
administered by the park are within their right to do so and any  
complaints they have should be given due consideration.
