GDG- Lee wounding?

Hello from a professional lurker,
  I was reading an article in North South Magazine yesterday that was dealing with the old hooves off the ground in equestrian statues issue. It basically said that the only rule is: there is no rule. But it noted that R.E. Lee had been wounded in battle. I am unaware that he had. What's the story? Was he wounded in the Mexican War perhaps? Scratching my head. TY
