George,
May I suggest, if you liked the book and show BAND OF BROTHERS, the biography of Major Dick Winters, BIGGEST BROTHER, by Larry Alexander. There is,. by the way, a Gettysburg connetcion here - Maj. WInters and his family lived in an apartmnent in Gettysburg for awhile in 1955.
I'd also recommend the stunning novel centered around the battle of Franklin and its aftermath, WIDOW OF THE SOUTH, by Robert Hicks. And for a fascianting account of religion in the CW, Mark Noll's THE CIVIL WAR AS A THEOLOGICAL CRISIS.
So many books,........
Walter
