Hi, John,
Busey and Martin record total losses for the 1st MN as 224 of 330 engaged (67.9%). On July 2nd, some companies were on detached duty, which is why only 262 were in position that afternoon, with the resulting high percentage loss. The detached companies rejoined the regiment on July 3, and the regiment participated in the repulse of Longstreet's assault.
I guess you can do almost anything you wish with statistics.

Depending which source you want to believe, can it still be said that the
First Minnesota suffered the highest percentage of killed and wounded on Day
2 in any Civil War battle?
For a century we used Fox's figure of 82%. More recent research says it may
be more like 70% +/-
