For those in the Philadelphia area. To relate it to Gettysburg, the personal effects and Generals Reynolds and Meade (including Old Baldy's head) are on display at the museum.
The Civil War and Underground Railroad Museum of Philadelphia invites one
and all to a Victorian Christmas Open House. The Open House will be held on
Saturday, December 8, at the museum, located at 1805 Pine Street, in Center
City Philadelphia. The museum will be open from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM and
admission is FREE all day. The web site is http://www.cwurmuseum.org/
The Open House will feature an exhibit of original Victorian toys and gifts,
a distinctive holiday display, photographs, a special presentation of
Victorian Christmas customs, the story of Thomas Nast - Santa Clausâ Father,
Victorian Carolers, staff attired in clothing of the period, and refreshments.
This is a free Open House and all visitors are invited to stop in during the
day and join in the period festivities.
