To me, what you experienced and the whole "ghost story" industry are two
different things.  I don't believe in ghosts, in the ghost industry sense.
I really believe that men who gave their lives for their country believed
in, deserved, and received a far better eternal reward than being shills to
attract tourists.  On the other hand, I believe in what you experienced and
that it is best explained in the moving speech that Joshua Lawrence
Chamberlain gave at the dedication of the 20th Maine monument at Gettysburg
on October 3, 1889:
