<<I just got a call from a man who is related to Asa Warriner, 6th PA
Reserves. He wants to find out if Asa is on the PA monument. Is there a
list of the names on the monument somewhere online? Thanks.
Stephen Recker>>
Hi,
Asa Warrener enlisted as a Private in H. Co, 35th PA (6th Res) on 22
April, 1861, for 3 years.
H Co, the Tioga Invincibles, was recruited in Wellsboro and Tioga
counties.
He transferred to Battery A, 1st PA Artillery, on 25 July, 1862.
He was discharged as a Private on a surgeon's certificate on 30 May,
1865.
Battery A was not at Gettysburg. In July 1863, they were transferred
from the 9th Corps to US Forces Norfolk and Portsmouth VA, Dept. of VA
and NC from July, 1863 to April, 1864.
There was also a Hiram Warrener listed in the 35th PA, roster who also
transferred to Battery A the same day as Asa.
He was promoted to Sergeant on 16 June, 1865, and mustered out with the
battery on 25 July, 1865.
Their last name is spelled Warrener in the 35th's roster, and is spelled
Warriner in the Battery A roster.
VR, Rick Schaus
