Just wondering what the thoughts out there are about this book. I have
the Stewart and Hess books on Pickett's Charge itself, and the Pfanz
book on the hills that covers the 3rd days portion around Culp's Hill,
and Wittenberg's book covering the east calvary field action
("protecting the flanks") plus more general works. I was just wondering
if there was more to be learned here...

I don't know that there is a heck of a lot of original information in Wert's
book, but it draws upon decades of research done/published after Stewart's
book. And as I recall it gave basic information on the July 3rd Charge better
than Hess's book (although I will admit a bit of prejudice on my part about
the Hess book: Hess devoted a very long endnote to arguing against a
conclusion I had made in a Gettysburg Magazine article -- although I think he failed
to prove his case and he somewhat played a little loose with facts in trying
to do so).
