<<Remember what happened to the boy Major on Brenner's Hill,
<<brother. The Confederates, desperate for an artillery
<<position sent Latimer to his death seeking to neutralize
<<Union artillery before an attack by infantry. Had they
<<instead been able to use the much better platform of Culp's

<<its artillery placements on both Stevems and Cemetery Hill.

What happened to the Boy major is exactly what would have happened to
anyone foolish enough to try and clear trees to set up Artillery.
Stephens Knoll would have been decimated by Cemetery Hill artillery in
about 30 seconds had the Confederates tired to set up shop there. Had
you spent more time on Culp's hill walking the ground and less time
hanging your Hammock between trees you would realize this. A first day
capture of cemetery hill, OTH, would have meant this would be the "PCDG"
