GDG- "Maps of Gettysburg" book

I'm editing the book for Savas-Beatie at the moment (in fact, after a couple
weeks of it I should finish it today).

There are actually about 140 maps total, which cover the campaign from June
3 until July 13. Brad has done a terrific job with this book. It's 345
pages, fully footnoted with bibliography.

The way the book is set up is this: Each left-hand page has summary, yet
detailed text of a particular portion of the action, and the corresponding
map is on the right-hand page. Therefore, no flipping around to find the
map to match the text - it's all right there. All the campaign actions from
June 3 (advance to Gettysburg), the three days of battle, and then the
entire retreat is completely mapped out.

The book is oversized as well, with the maps very easy to read and follow.
In my opinion, this new work will be "the" field guide for a good, overall
mapping of the entire campaign.

I will be releasing my edited copy of the book to Savas later today, and
publication is anticipated by June (no later than the anniversary). You can
also go to Savas' webpage on the book at
http://www.savasbeatie.com/books/TMOG_book.htm. With this amount of
excellent, well-drawn maps (with topography very detailed), at less than $40
the book is very reasonable, and one that everyone would want not only on
their shelf, but along for every battlefield visit.

Yes - because the maps include topography and include detailed troop
positions and movements, they will remind you very much of the Friends' map
set. With nearly 140 of them in the book, though, they're obviously much
more detailed as to movements.

Amazon says that the book consists of "30 campaign maps".>>
