JOHN,

Your book is great and I feel privileged to own a copy in excellent
condition. It is without a doubt one of the better resources for those
studying of the Second Day's events I really greatly admire your work .
So, please don't take the following as nit-pucking criticism. It
certainly is not intended that way.

My ancestor was the assistant surgeon in the 139th Pa. of Wheaton's
Brigade of the 6th Corps. who, on Day Two, were very instrumental in
repulsing Wofford's Confederate Brigade at the base of Little Round
Top , and then pursued Wofford to nearly the Emmitsburg Road before
withdrawing to the position of their monument along the Wheatfield Road
about opposite Crawford Road in front of Little Round Top..

Naturtally I am proud of my ancestors service at Gettysburg. Thus, it's
a mild disappointment to see the regiments of Wheaton's Brigade listed
as including, and then giving the credit to the 139th NY instead of the
139th PA .

I know that a new printing of this fine volume is not currently planned,
but if one should occur sometime in the future I hope that you are able
to correct this misidentification.

Thanks for reading this, and my apologiies if I sound too critical .

                         Pres
