Dear Gettysburg enthusiasts,
I want to let you know that Butternut and Blue has decided not to reprint
Imhof's classic work on the second day. I am in the process of trying to
get my website designer to remove the blurb that indicates that it might be
a possibility. I ran that ad for nearly a year and a half and received
only 125-130 preorders [including some people who preordered it on a
recurring basis]. To reprint the book would take a lot of time and more
importantly about $15,000 up front money. I would have to sell about 400
copies to break even on the venture. Additionally, the production people I
worked with for the first edition are no longer available to help with the
project.
John knows about my decision and is currently working to place the book onto
a CD. I regret that I had to make this decision-- John's book is a
treasure!
In order to avoid similar crises in the future, I should let you know that
Woody Christ's Bliss Farm book (second edition), The Life and Letters of
George Gordon Meade, and Gary Lash's Gibraltar Brigade are also in very low
quantities and will likely not be reprinted.
Sincerely,
Jim McLean
