GDG- Lee's Health at Gettysburg

  The problem with trying to assess Lee's health at Gettysburg and the 
degree to which it impacted his ability to command (if at all) is that there 
isn't a whole lot of hard evidence.  Most of what we have amounts to 
anecdotal observations, plus soem rather general comments by Lee himself.

  Anecdotal?  We have it in writing, from the best eye-witness there could be - Lee himself.  His offer of resignation states very plainly.  His exact words were "No one is more aware than myself of my inability for the duties of my position.  I am becoming more incapable of exertion, and am thus prevented from making the personal supervision of the operations in the field which I feel to be necessary".
