_prior_ to the time he would have needed to support en echelon the
attack? I was under the impression that before Wright got going,
Anderson had sent orders to do so.

Unfortunately, ordering it and doing it weren't necessarily the same thing. 
That's why the Bliss farm figthing was so protracted.  Neither side could 
tolerate the other controlling the farm buildings, and any attempt to do so 
invited a violent response.
