Or Hill for that matter? Lee bears quite a bit of blame, IMHO.

Anderson's division had been in essentially its pre-attack deployment for 
some time before it attack was launched.  For his division to have attacked 
with any good prospect of success, it needed to do so with the same kind of 
depth Hood and McLaws did.
I still think nothing triggered such a redeployment, because he never was 
told anything, even with the original attack plan was changed, to make him 
expect to be making a main, rather than a supporting, attack.  And for his 
divison to have redeployed in depth prior to the attack, other formations in 
Hill's Corps would also have had to adjust they poositions.  Yet there's no 
sign of anything of the like even being considered.  If there's blame, it 
goes right to the top.
