<< I just got back from 4 days in Gettysburg, where we focused on 2nd day
action, excluding the action on LRT. We started with the action of Hood's
Texas
Brigade. And one thing that amazed us, to a man, was the lack of
communication
in the ANV. Hood goes down early around the Slyder Lane & Law doesn't find
out that he is in command until later that night. Longstreet, Lee ...
somebody
dropped the ball. There was some conjecture that maybe Hood refused to give
up command. Maybe he thought his wound not that serious.
Respectfully,
Mike Peters >>
That's new conjecture to me. From what I've read of his wound, there was no
question of his trying to remain on the field. I think it more likely that
word simply never got to Law in a timely manner.
