Lee is use to giving orders in general terms correct? But both Hill and
Ewell new to corps. command, I think he needed to be a little more hands on.
I know this runs counter to some of those who think he was. I for one am a
little bit skeptical....
Jim:
I just got back from 4 days in Gettysburg, where we focused on 2nd day
action, excluding the action on LRT. We started with the action of Hood's Texas
Brigade. And one thing that amazed us, to a man, was the lack of communication
in the ANV. Hood goes down early around the Slyder Lane & Law doesn't find
out that he is in command until later that night. Longstreet, Lee ... somebody
dropped the ball. There was some conjecture that maybe Hood refused to give
up command. Maybe he thought his wound not that serious.
Respectfully,
Mike Peters
