GDG- The Name Game

Not for nuttin, but those are just devices used by the writers to bring the four or five people who know nothing about Gettysburg up to speed. I believe that the lee bit was the first time the word Gettysburg was spoken in the movie, and the Longstreet Alexander dialoque was a compressed way of indicating the youth of the participants. unnecessary, except to the four or five people previously mentioned, but mostly harmless.

Yes Jim, it ranks right up there with Longstreet saying to Porter 
Alexander "How old are you son?" like he just met the guy who is 
going to conduct his corps artillery barrage. Yikes...
