Jim,
I truly appreciate the kind words but alas there are many of good folks
equally as learned as I if not more. I am, however, humbled and grateful. Sir
Charles Hathaway, Licenses Battlefield Guide, is perhaps the most knowledgeable
sole when it comes to said subject. He is seconded by my good friend James Brady
(Hurrah for the Artillery!: Knaps Independent Battery E...). Both Charles and
Jim are quiet jewels who know the field as good as anyone. Their knowledge is
paramount. I have not spoken to either in over two-years but they are by far
the resident experts (in my humbled opinion). And we cannot forget Wayne W.
Wayne knows as much as about battery movements and engagements as anyone,
including myself. I am lucky in that I just happen to own the largest compiled
collection of rare and collectable data on said subject ever collected (thanks to
Rank & File). I will be making this available to the GBNMP Library when my
and David Weick's work is completed (we are working on it).
By-the-way ... Lt. Livingston (KIA July 2nd) was from Turnbull's 3rd U.S.
Battery F, not C. I was probably thinking of Thomas and Weir who both commanded
company C's from different arty regiments. Mistakes happen when I haven't my
work and I poke my nose into queries that I haven't all the information on. The
fact remains ... neither Cushing or Arnold were overrun.
Regards,
Dave
