<<I'm sorry I can't shed any light on the specifics of how enlisted men would end
up in Libby Prison other than to confirm that it did in fact happen. The
service records of my G-G-Grandfather, a private in the 14th PA Cavalry, detail
his being captured near Millwood, VA in December of 1864 and imprisoned in Libby
Prison until February of 1865.>>

Mike: This is why I asked the question. I have some records somewhere that some of the 128th Pa, who were not officers were held at Libby Prison. But I can't put my hands on the records so didn't want to say for certain. About 240 of the men were captured at Chancellorsville, were taken to Richmond and then exchanged in time for them to muster out with the rest of regiment in mid-May, 1863. (They were a 9 month regiment.) They weren't there long. Of the records that I have read, they mention Libby; no one mentions Belle Isle.
