  Another myth of the battle.
   
  He was wounded on July 1 on Barlows Knoll,  He died at the Alms House if my memory is correct.

While reading a booklet, a passing reference was made to Bayard Wilkinson, a Federal soldier who amputated his own leg at the Alms House during the first day's battle.
